Meet Edward
Founder of The Begin Within Initiative, LLC

Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Edward is a family man through and through. He is a devoted husband to his wife, Giena, and a proud father of five—one son, Edward Jr., and four daughters: Payton, Sydney, Seleste, and Selene. His grandson, Esko, melts his heart and brings even deeper meaning to his role as a mentor and guide. The love and support of his family keep him grounded and inspired, fueling his drive to be a powerful example for them and motivating his life’s work of changing lives one person at a time.
Edward’s early life experiences shaped his deep passion for personal growth and helping others transform their lives. He earned his Associate of Arts degree from Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C), where he also played college basketball—developing discipline, leadership, and a strong sense of teamwork both on and off the court. He later pursued a degree in social work at Cleveland State University, further grounding his commitment to community service and personal development.
Edward’s journey is a powerful testament to transformation through purpose, discipline, and action. After serving 14 years in federal prison due to youthful decisions and an unformed mindset, he chose a different path—one of therapy, accountability, and continuous self-improvement. He shed the thinking that once held him back and dedicated himself to becoming a force for positive change.
Edward, now resides in Columbus, Ohio, where he is a published author, poet, motivational speaker, and the creator of the Begin, Believe, Become Life Skills Course—a 12-week transformational program designed to shift mindsets, elevate performance, and guide both youth and returning citizens through real, sustainable change. He continues to lead by example in his home and his community.
Through his work and life, Edward exemplifies the power of beginning within.
Personal Life
At the heart of his journey is his family, his wife and five children, whose love and support continue to fuel his mission. He lives by a simple but powerful truth:
“The past may shape who you are, but it does not define who you can become.”
